The characteristic joy of children was present during the Children’s Parade of the Mérida Amazon Carnival 2025 on Thursday, Feb. 27th.
Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada led the event together with more than 14 thousand Meridians who enjoyed the passage of more than 30 children’s groups and special guests, all committed to caring for the environment.
“We want our girls and boys to be able to enjoy their city. A safe city that takes care of them and allows them to live full and happy lives,” said the mayor. “This Amazon Carnival belongs to everyone, a space to create a community and where families can enjoy it safely.”
“I feel excited and proud to see our boys and girls committed to caring for the environment. This event is an example of the creativity and enthusiasm of our community, and I hope it serves as a model for future generations,” concluded the mayor.
The enthusiasm of the young participants spread to the public, who were invited to protect the planet along the route through the Historic Center, in a display of color and creativity, with children dressed as orchids, ocelots, rubber trees, bananas, dolphins, and many other characters. The costumes, adorned with feathers and sequins, were designed with the theme of environmental care.
