A tragic accident took the life of a construction worker and left another seriously injured, while they were working at the Mitza facilities, located on the Mérida-Progreso highway.
The events occurred on Wednesday, February 5th, around 1:30 p.m., when the operator of a “Jib” type crane was manipulating the aforementioned machinery, but the weight got the better of him and the crane tipped over onto his side until it fell on top of a workshop with several workers inside.
The structure fell on top of one of the employees, who lost his life instantly, while another of his colleagues ended up with serious injuries.
SSP paramedics arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the injured employee, as well as confirm the lack of vital signs of the other worker.
SSP agents arrived to learn of the events, as well as agents of the State Investigation Police (PEI) who began the investigations to find out the causes of the accident and the determination of responsibilities.
