Learn what it is and how to maintain a five-star rating.
• This new option reinforces the importance of respectful behavior between users and drivers.
• The app for drivers also offers a “minimum user rating” filter, which drivers can activate to only make trips with users from a certain minimum rating given by other drivers.
Mexico City, (February 17, 2025).- In each trip through the Uber app, users and driver partners can rate each other to improve everyone’s experience. This system has worked since the app arrived in our country, and starting this week, it adds an update in favor of drivers: the possibility of blocking future trips with a user to whom they give a low rating.
This new solution will be visible on the rating screen that drivers see at the end of a trip, showing an automatic block or the optional blocking option for future trips, depending on the rating given by the driver to the user.
• 1-star rating: The connection between the two will be blocked automatically. A notice on the screen informs the driver that, by giving this rating, he or she will not receive trips from this user again.
• 2 or 3-star rating: The driver will have access to a button that allows him or her to block future assignments with that user.
Cecilia Román, Safety Communications Manager at Uber, commented on this:
“Although traffic and stress can make us feel upset at times, at Uber we consider it essential that each trip using the app is completed with respect and peace of mind for everyone. To achieve this, we promote compliance with our Community Guidelines among our entire community, which cover three principles: treat everyone with kindness and respect; help others stay safe; and respect the law.”
It is important to note that, in the event of a safety incident, drivers can report it from the app itself, and their report can be supported with functions such as encrypted video and audio recording. Conduct that violates the app’s Community Guidelines or Terms and Conditions may result in the permanent deactivation of an account, whether it is for drivers, users, or users.
In addition, drivers have the option to filter trip requests based on a certain minimum user rating. This parameter can be modified at any time by the driver-partner and is found in the driver-partner app in the ‘Trip Preferences’ > “User Rating” section.
How to improve your user rating?
Users can find out the ratings they have received from the ‘Privacy Center’ option in the app, available from: ‘Settings’ > “Privacy” > “Privacy Center.” From there, by sliding to the right, you can select “Do you want to see a summary of how you use the Uber app?” and scroll down to “Browse your data” and “View my ratings.”
Uber shares some tips for having a smooth ride and maintaining a five-star rating:
• Don’t slam doors and keep your car clean so the next rider doesn’t start their ride with a bad experience.
• Be ready when your driver arrives to start the ride.
• Don’t encourage your driver to break traffic rules.
• Avoid inappropriate comments, personal questions, or other disrespect toward anyone.
