A group of collaborators of the National English Program (Proni), held a demonstration in front of the Government Palace demanding that the authorities pay their salaries, which they have not received since December 2024.

One of the protesters explained that none of the people who work in this program have a base or a position, since they are all under the format of service providers, however, the invoices have not been paid since December and it seems that they will not be paid this month either.

He also explained that they had previously spoken with the people responsible for this program aimed at primary and preschool schools and that it depends on a federal resource; they even pointed out that they had presented a petition to Tania Vázquez Erosa, head of the program, who reportedly told them that their requests were received by Juan Balam Varguez, state Secretary of Education.

However, during the live broadcast of Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, the teachers deduced that the secretary was not aware of this situation, so they decided to demonstrate on Wednesday, February 19th.

The teacher explained that, parallel to this federal program, a state program was created and those who teach classes in the state program are receiving their payments, so they considered that the government should comply equally with everyone.

The teachers also demanded other labor rights through a petition that they left at the Government Palace and they demand to speak with Juan Balam and if possible with the governor so that they could solve the lack of payment that affects more than 150 English teachers.

The teachers also pointed out that before holding the protest, they received threats to stop them from making the problem public, so they demanded that the state government guarantee that there would be no reprisals against them.
