On Wednesday, February 5th, the collective exhibition “Equilibrium” was inaugurated at the Amaro Cultural Forum Restaurant & Gallery, located in the heart of Downtown Mérida. Showcasing the work of eight visual artists.

The exhibition features 16 pieces that explore painting and graphics using various techniques such as acrylic, oil, ink, linoleum, and woodcut.

Manuel May Tilán, curator of the exhibition, explained that “Equilibrium” arose from a call by the painter Beatriz Brown, who selected the participating artists.

May Tilán was in charge of the museography, organizing the distribution of the pieces in the space to give cohesion to the visual discourse of the exhibition.

The concept of “balance” in the exhibition is related to composition in the history of art, evoking the legacy of figures such as Leonardo da Vinci and his study of the human canon within the square and the circle, as well as the search for symmetry in “The Last Supper.”

The works of “Equilibrium,” he explained, do not seek a literal representation of flora, fauna, and human portraiture, but rather an interpretation through color and composition.

The exhibition allows us to observe how each artist experiments with composition and balance in their work, resulting in a diverse but harmonious visual proposal.

The Amaro Cultural Forum, in addition to being a gastronomic space, has functioned as a platform for the dissemination of diverse artistic expressions such as painting, sculpture, photography, theater, and literature.

The exhibition can be visited until March 15 at Amaro, a space that will continue its cultural programming with new artistic exhibitions in the future.
