The Isla Mujeres Department of Environment and Ecology promotes responsible pet care.
To promote responsible pet ownership and raise funds for the equipment of the first Animal Welfare Center in Isla Mujeres, the municipal government headed by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, through the Department of Environment and Ecology, will hold the Animal Welfare Race, in which island families will be able to participate with their pets.
According to the statement, in a press conference, the Department of Environment and Ecology presented the details of the first Animal Welfare Race that will take place next Sunday, February 23 at 7:00 a.m., in the 2 and 5-kilometer modalities, highlighting that runners may be accompanied by their pets in the 2-kilometer modality.
For his part, the general secretary of the city council, Hugo Iván Sánchez Montalvo, reiterated the extraordinary efforts made by the municipal government to promote the care and respect of animals.
The general secretary of the City Council highlighted that the Animal Welfare Center is 80 percent complete in its first stage, which includes the area of medical care, surgical area, and canine aesthetics, among others.
Registration is now open with a recovery fee of $350.00 for the general public and $250.00 for students who present a school ID. All those registered will receive a kit with a commemorative dry fit shirt, medal, and participant number.
