Hocabá, Yucatán, imposes a curfew for minors under 18 years of age

The City Council of Hocabá, Yucatán, announced the implementation of a curfew for girls, boys, and young people under 18 years, as part of a security strategy in the face of the increase in addictions in the region.

According to the official statement, minors will be unable to be on the streets after 11:00 p.m. on February 13.

Those who are seen on public roads after that time will be invited to return to their homes; In case of recidivism, their parents or guardians will receive an administrative sanction.

Likewise, the City Council indicated that the motorcycles of minors who are caught driving without supervision will be detained, safeguarding the vehicles at the municipal command.

The statement also establishes new rules for motorcyclists and motorcycle taxi drivers in the municipality, such as that motorcycles can only carry two people on board.

Likewise, motorcycle taxi drivers must be limited to four passengers per unit. The authorities warned that failure to comply with these measures will lead to administrative sanctions.

The Hocabá City Council based these new provisions on the Municipal Police and Government Side, arguing that they seek to preserve public safety and prevent crimes. He also announced that in the next council sessions, new security provisions will be analyzed and approved.
