A citizen identified as Adrián Nah Tzuc reported on his social networks that he was intercepted by three masked subjects while he was doing his exercise routine in Merida’s Chenkú neighborhood.
The incident occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 PM, on Monday, February 10th, when Nah Tzuc was jogging on 27th Avenue, a route he has traveled for years without incident.
According to his testimony, two individuals wearing face masks blocked his way, while a third attacked him from behind, knocking him to the ground.
“Luckily for me, I only thought of running away and reaching a nearby crowded space, which was the Chenkú Park,” he said in his social network’s publication. He managed to escape with only minor injuries.
He said that the attackers were wearing black jackets masks and hoods, which prevented their identification.
Given this situation, the victim made a call to the inhabitants of the area to take extreme precautions and report any suspicious activity.
This incident adds to other complaints from citizens about similar events in the area, which is causing concern among residents of Chenku, who hope that the authorities will take action on the matter to reinforce security in the area.
