Patricio Campillo, a renowned Mexican designer, made a symbolic gesture by parading with a “Gulf of Mexico” t-shirt during the presentation of his new collection at New York Fashion Week.
This act takes place amid the controversy generated by the change of name of the Gulf of Mexico on Google Maps in the United States, where, at the request of US President Donald Trump, it was changed to “Gulf of America.”
His action was applauded by Internet users, who interpreted it as a message against the alteration of Mexican geography and culture.
