As part of the “Mérida Limpia” program, promoted by the city council of Merida, municipal workers removed solid waste accumulated on the roofs of the Lucas de Gálvez market.
The Deputy Director of Public Markets, Dafne López Osorio, reported that this action complements their daily work to keep the public supply centers hygienic, at the service of the tenants and users.
With the support of Servi-Limpia, headed by Gerardo Bolio de Ocampo, approximately 32 cubic meters of waste weighing nearly three tons were removed from the roofs of the premises in the area known as Tianguis 2. The move took advantage of the Sunday day to impact the movement in the market as little as possible.
The collaboration and good disposition of the tenants are important, who were invited to join the broad strategy of cleaning the city, in which the markets are a fundamental piece due to the great influx they have every day.
It is essential to keep these areas free of solid waste, taking them to the disposal sites available in the Lucas de Galvez market, one of the most iconic tourist attractions in Merida.
