Because visitors prefer to ride a horse-drawn buggy, only one of the six electric buggies that were acquired in the last municipal administration is in service, revealed Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, director of Prosperity and Economic Well-being of the municipality.

The municipal official pointed out that, although one is used, they are aware that three are parked and since they have not been used for quite some time, the state in which they are found will be evaluated, for which the supplier of the units has already been requested to carry out a diagnosis of the vehicles to know their condition.

Díaz Montalvo said that these carriages are located in the parking lot of the Municipal Palace and the reason for their abandonment is that tourists prefer to get on a horse-drawn carriage, so the coachmen chose not to use the electric ones, but only one made the decision to stop using his horse to use the electric unit.

Díaz Montalvo mentioned that he will soon meet with the coachmen to begin to jointly analyze what options there are for these units to be used on their traditional route that mainly covers Paseo de Montejo or to create a new route so that they do not continue to be abandoned.

He recalled that the six electric buggies cost approximately 246 thousand pesos and their two-year warranty ended last August, so the coachmen must pay for the maintenance of those that may be in operation, in addition to the problem of the very thin tires.
