Researchers at the Scientific Research Center of Yucatan (CICY) have created an innovative septic tank named Aquox, which converts water and organic waste into green energy.

Experts at CICY view wastewater not as a problem but as a source of energy. Traditionally, energy is used to treat wastewater, but the Aquox system extracts the energy found in wastewater instead.

The Aquox system, developed in Mexico, has been patented in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the United States, and Peru. CICY takes pride in this invention, which not only crosses borders but also contributes to the planet and the environment.

High Efficiency and Reusability

Aquox achieves more than 90% water treatment, allowing the treated water to be reused for activities such as irrigation. This self-sustaining system prevents contamination from reaching the water table.

The Aquox system is considered a disruptive solution in Yucatan and the country, breaking existing parameters by effectively treating wastewater.

This groundbreaking project highlights the potential of wastewater as a valuable resource for green energy production.
