Three young students from the Mérida Institute of Technology will present two scientific projects developed by themselves in Dublin, Ireland.
The young Carolina Cruz Carrillo and Yulislel Pech, students of Environmental Engineering, and Alejandra Zapata, of Chemical Engineering, developed a method to process burnt cooking oil and another that allows fruit infections to be avoided, in both cases thanks to the use of fungi and plants.
The proposals seek to reduce the contamination of water bodies, soils, and the environment in general and the development of applications in agriculture and industry, respectively.
Both projects will be presented at the 17th European Conference on Fungal Genetics, which will be held at the Dublin Convention Center from March 2 to 5.
The intention of the event, which is attended by researchers and companies in biotechnology, genetics, and fungal biology from around the world, is to show practical solutions to contemporary problems. More than 400 projects will be presented at the event, two of which are from Yucatan. The best projects can be acquired by global companies.
