Agents of the State Investigative Police (PEI) arrested the person who, on the night of Friday, February 14, allegedly set fire to a dog in the Xoclán López Portillo neighborhood in the west of Mérida.
According to the report, Tony C.M. was on his property located on 28th Street between 35 and 37 in that neighborhood, where he poured gasoline and set fire to the dog, causing its death.
Upon witnessing this act, a group of young men tried to put out the flames with buckets of water.

PEI agents went to the suspect’s home on Saturday, Feb. 15th. The man was arrested and transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office to continue with the legal process.
Residents of the area stated that he had previously presented conflictive situations and was seen consuming drugs. Likewise, it was said that the subject would be the son of a union leader.
