Merida’s Parque Alemán was the venue for the presentation of the new Canine Kings of the Mérida Amazon Carnival 2025.

Before the coronation of the new canine royalty, a parade of dogs for adoption was held.

This parade was organized by the Municipal Animal Care Center where homeless animals participated and were cared for and rehabilitated to find a family that can give them all the love they deserve.

This event was led by Mayor Cecilia Patrón who emphasized the care of animals and the actions from the City Council to promote respect and adoption of these little furry friends.

The new Canine Kings were crowned according to three size categories:

  • Small Breed Kings were Cata (Chihuahua) and Benito (Chihuahua)
  • Medium Breed Kings were Bolita (Poodle) and Aslan (Chow Chow)
  • Large Breed Kings were Margaret (Border Collie) and Bruno (Belgian Shepherd)

With the coronation of this new canine royalty, the mayor inaugurated the new activities derived from the Mérida Amazon Carnival 2025 that will officially begin on February 26 until March 5.
