A fire that broke out on Monday, February 24th, in a property located in the El Prado Chuburná subdivision in Mérida claimed the life of a person who had been rescued shortly before along with another person with whom he lived.
Upon receiving a report of the incident, SSP officers and firefighters immediately responded. They rescued the owners, R.R.F. (67 years old) and G.V.V. (60 years old), who were still inside their house and put out the flames.
G.V.V. was treated for a nervous breakdown, while R.R.F. suffered smoke poisoning and second-degree burns, for which he was taken to a hospital.
Hours later, the death of R.R.F. was reported due to lung damage as a consequence of smoke inhalation.
In addition, during the rescue, an officer suffered first-degree burns on his face, although he did not require medical transfer.
As for material damage, the fire consumed two rooms.
