Woman hospitalized after canine attack in San Ignacio, Progreso

An elderly woman was on the street in San Ignacio when two dogs attacked her, causing serious injuries.

Elements of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) attended a report in the town of San Ignacio, municipality of Progreso, where a 70-year-old person suffered serious injuries after being attacked by two dogs while she was on the street.

The woman was helped by her daughter, who managed to scare away the animals using objects within her reach.

The victim ended up with wounds on her face, arm, and leg, as well as possible bone fractures in the extremities.

She was transferred to a hospital for specialized medical care, while the owners of the dogs were identified and will be made available to the State Attorney General’s Office.
