An organized crime gang operative was hiding in Yucatán

Authorities arrested a man linked to a criminal group in Umán as part of a joint operation in Querétaro, Guanajuato, and Yucatán.


The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection reported that he is José Remedios “N,” a criminal gang operative and leader of murderers and drug dealers in the state. His arrest occurred on a property on 30th Street in the Piedra de Agua neighborhood, in Umán, Yucatán.


The above emerges from the investigation into an armed attack on the “Los Cantaritos” bar in the state of Querétaro on November 9, 2024.


In this regard, authorities stated that searches of various properties in Querétaro, where José Francisco “N” and Sandra “N” were arrested. They were identified as the leading operators of an alliance between criminal groups, and they were also responsible for ordering violent actions against members of rival criminal organizations. Three men and one woman were also arrested.


Likewise, in the state of Guanajuato, two men were arrested, and various doses of drugs, cell phones, and cash were seized.


In total, nine members of this criminal group were arrested during this operation, linked to organized crime, kidnapping, fuel theft, and drug dealing, among other crimes.


The detainees were handed over to the corresponding Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status. The properties were sealed and placed under the protection of the authorities so that the appropriate investigation could continue.
