Last weekend, La Reina” Zoo in Tizimín received a new tenant: a Bengal tiger that is in the process of adapting to its new enclosure, isolated from people.

Although its age is unknown, it is known that it is a male specimen that was brought from the state of Quintana Roo.

It arrived in that city last Friday, February 28th, on the same day that the zoo turned 50 years old.

With this feline specimen, there are now three in this recreational center, among them “Xipa”, a male tiger born in this zoo, and “Candy”, a tigress whose enclosure is next to the hippopotamus cage.

According to the information obtained, the new tenant arrived in a vehicle adapted for safe transportation and the maneuvers to lower it to its new cage were carried out by personnel from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa).

Likewise, it was learned that National Guard agents arrived to take note and even escorted the vehicle that transported the feline from the neighboring state of Quintana Roo.

On Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd, visitors wondered why one of the cages was covered with a white blanket. Some curious people even tried to peek behind the cloth, but they found that the cage was also covered with black plastic that prevented them from seeing the tiger.

On Monday, March 3rd, when the park was not open to the public, the tiger was taken out of the cage to walk in the large space that will be its new habitat, and in the next few days, it will be visible to visitors.
