An accident occurred this morning in downtown Mérida when a vehicle caught fire after colliding with a tree at the intersection of 61st and 34th Streets in the Historic Center. A 60-year-old woman and her daughter managed to escape before the flames completely consumed the car.
According to witnesses, the white Atos vehicle began emitting smoke shortly after the driver turned onto 61st Street. Within seconds, the engine made a strange noise, and the car spun out of control until it hit a tree and a sidewalk.
