The Chichén Itzá Grand Museum commemorated its first anniversary with an academic and cultural program open to the public, highlighting its role in preserving the Mayan legacy.

With a collection of more than 500 pieces, the site exhibits emblematic sculptures such as the red jaguar throne and various representations of Chac Mool.

The activities began with a presentation by archaeologist Manuel Pérez Rivas, coordinator of the archaeological rescue of the Mayan Train. During the ceremony, the drive of the Mayan Renaissance promoted by the state government was highlighted to strengthen collaboration between the federation and the state, benefit nearby communities, and encourage visits by the local population.

The event included readings in the Mayan language by Gerónimo Can Tec and Miguel Buenrostro Alba, as well as a photographic exhibition by artist José Antonio Keb Cetina. The work of the restoration and conservation staff of the Patronato Cultur and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) was also recognized, whose work has been key in the consolidation of the museum.

State authorities and representatives of the INAH reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening alliances with academic and cultural institutions to increase visits by local students and tourists.

Located a few kilometers from the Kukulcán Castle, the museum is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with free admission. Those interested can request information at the Cultur Parador, where the ticket offices for access to the archaeological zone are located.
