In a disturbing and unusual crime in the state, three hooded men entered a private school in the La Florida neighborhood, in northern Mérida, in the early morning hours.

Although surveillance cameras captured them, there are no specific clues yet regarding the suspects’ plans.

The theft occurred early Monday morning, but the incident only came to light on Friday, March 21, when images were posted on social media. It is known that the school’s administrators have already filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office.

The incident occurred between one and two in the morning, according to surveillance cameras at the private school, located on 23A Street between 30th and 34th Streets in the La Florida neighborhood.

The three men entered the preschool area by jumping over the wall, but they also searched all the kindergarten classrooms, as well as the elementary, middle, and high school classrooms, looking for valuables.

When they noticed the security cameras, they cut the cables and removed the cameras, which they stole. They also took electronic tablets and other items.
