Agents of the State Attorney General’s Office arrested Antonio “N”, accused of having hit his dog with a baseball bat, causing its death despite the efforts of a veterinarian to save its life.
Formally, Antonio N was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of crimes against the environment, specifically for animal abuse against a canine.
On February 25, a dog of approximately two years of age suffered acts of cruelty in its own home.
According to the investigation, Antonio “N” hit the animal repeatedly with a blunt object, causing severe head trauma. Later, he abandoned the dog, seriously injured, on the public road.
A veterinarian determined that the animal had irreversible neurological damage, so it was decided to apply clinical death to avoid further suffering.
The Prosecutor’s Office obtained an arrest warrant from a Control Judge against the suspect, who was located and detained on Emiliano Zapata Street, at the corner with Bahía Boulevard, outside the Sam’s Club store in Chetumal.
After his capture, he was placed at the disposal of the competent authority, where his legal situation would be determined.
