Local entrepreneurs and artists from the LGBTI+ community participate.
The Mérida City Council, led by Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, through the Directorate of Social Development and Combating Poverty, successfully held the second edition of Expo Arcoíris, consolidating its position as a space for entrepreneurship, inclusion, and diversity.
People from the LGBTI+ community and their allies exhibited and sold their products, promoting self-employment and strengthening the local economy.
By creating inclusive spaces, Merida is working to improve citizens’ quality of life and lay a firm foundation to guarantee equal opportunities for all.
The Director of Social Development, Arturo León Itzá, highlighted the importance of the event: “More than 50 startups participated in this second edition of Expo Arcoíris, promoting an environment of inclusion and respect in our city.
“In addition, we seek to offer an exhibition platform that fosters the growth of entrepreneurs who often face additional challenges in the market,” he noted.
Expo Arcoíris is also a vibrant cultural platform. Local drag and ballroom artists shared their talents in live performances, exhibitions, and various artistic activities that celebrated the creativity and diversity of our community.
“This event represents a great step toward strengthening inclusive spaces in Mérida, providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and artists whose work contributes to a more equitable and diverse society,” added León Itzá.
Furthermore, as part of the commitment to labor inclusion, the event included a job fair in collaboration with the Directorate of Prosperity and Economic Well-being and Prudence, promoting equitable employment opportunities for all.
Expo Arcoíris 2025 reaffirms that Mérida continues to advance toward a more just, inclusive, and prosperous community for all.
