To boost economic growth and job creation in Mérida, Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada presented the “Emprendo Contigo” program to the new generation, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the local business community and foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Mérida.

Accompanied by Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, Director of Prosperity and Economic Well-being, Cecilia Patrón reaffirmed her commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the community.

She added that to strengthen new businesses, the City Council has additional programs such as My First Loan, Micromer, Macromer, as well as the Woman to Woman Loan program to support young people and entrepreneurs of all ages who want to start a business or become self-employed.

Emilio Blanco del Villar, president of the Business Coordinating Council and COPARMEX Mérida, emphasized that Mérida is a city of opportunities, where the entrepreneurial spirit has been key to the municipality’s economic and social growth. In this regard, he recognized the Mérida City Council as an important ally in promoting new ventures.

Mauricio Díaz reported that his department received more than 200 proposals to participate in the “Emprendo Contigo” program. Of that number, 100 projects were selected and will receive advice and training to turn their ideas into solid business models.

Finally, Diaz noted that 28 women and 28 men drive 72 projects. The business areas are food and beverages, textile design, ecological themes, home and decoration, health and beauty, and services.
