More than half a ton of cannabis, 22 kilograms of cocaine, 42 kilograms of methamphetamine (crystal methamphetamine), and three kilograms of crack cocaine were seized during simultaneous searches of three properties in the city of Mérida.

The seized goods have a value of more than 49 million pesos, according to the World Drug Report of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Three handguns, one long gun, and cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army and the Police were also seized, as well as money-counting machines, electricity and water bills from various properties, and documents belonging to people allegedly linked to illicit activities.

The search warrants executed yesterday at properties in the Centro neighborhood of Los Pinos and Las Palmas (Petcanché) resulted from previous investigations and seizures, as well as the arrest of Josué Alejandro I. C., alias “Paco,” “El Jefe,” and “Patrón,” 40, originally from Mérida.

This individual was charged with drug dealing and remains in pretrial detention.

Evidence gathered in this and other ongoing investigations points to him as the alleged leader of drug distribution groups in the state. He has previously been prosecuted for these types of crimes.

The properties searched are located at:

51st Street between 44th and 49th Streets in Centro
18th Street and 39th Street in Petcanché
27th Street between 42nd and 42-A Streets in Los Pinos

Federal forces, the Army, the Navy, and the National Guard participated in the operation. Additionally, the Specialized Investigation and Litigation Unit for Drug Trafficking Crimes of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the State Investigation Police (PEI), and the Canine Unit (K-9) of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) intervened.
