The iconic Pikachu, whose name comes from the Japanese words “pika” (electric spark) and “chu” (mouse sound), once again united hearts in Mérida.
On March 15th and 16th, the Lago Sur pier in Merida’s Parque de la Plancha was transformed into the setting for the Pokewedding, a unique event where couples who are fans of the Pokémon universe celebrate their love with a touch of fantasy and fun.
Several couples, some accompanied by family and friends, participated in this symbolic ceremony presided over by a “Pokémon judge,” who presented them with an official Pokémon marriage certificate at the end.

The most excited were the children, who enjoyed the magic of the event, while the couples shared laughter and promise amid a colorful atmosphere.
Carla and Fernando, who have been together for four years and have wedding plans in the works, took advantage of the occasion to celebrate their upcoming anniversary.
Accompanied by their two pets, they emphasized the importance of keeping the flame of love alive.
The Pokewedding demonstrated once again that the Pokémon world transcends generations, uniting children and adults around magic, affection, and, of course, Pikachu’s electric sparks.
