Thieves “payback” society by cleaning up several areas of Nolo, Tixkokob

Due to the lack of a formal complaint filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, the Municipal Police assigned two thieves community service to repay society for their misdeeds.

The municipal authority, through its social media, reported that the detainees, Marcos N and José Luis N, were assigned to perform community service at the Agustín Melgar preschool in the Nolo police station, as well as at various locations in the same community and Tixkokob.

The two thieves were arrested in Tixkokob while performing community service imposed by the authorities of that municipality.

Among the activities carried out were cleaning and maintenance at the Agustín Melgar kindergarten removing branches and weeds from public areas and those covering traffic signs, among others.

The authority states that this decision is due to the fact that the thieves could not be charged due to the lack of a formal complaint and because the amount stolen did not meet the legal criteria for prosecution.

Remember that without a formal complaint, authorities are legally limited in proceeding with a claim.
