The Secretary of Tourism of the Mexican Government, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that the second long weekend of 2025 generated tourism spending of 64.166 billion pesos, 3.1% higher than the figures for the same period in 2024.
In a statement, it was reported that from March 14 to 17, hotel occupancy nationwide averaged 72.1%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points compared to the previous year.
Additionally, a total of 3,974,000 tourists stayed in resorts, 2% more than in 2024.
Likewise, during this weekend, 1,789,000 tourists chose to stay in hotels, representing an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous year. Of these, 1,285,000 were domestic tourists (71.8%) and 504,000 were foreign tourists.
Another 1,976,000 domestic tourists chose to stay with relatives, friends, or second homes, while 209,000 foreign tourists stayed through sharing platforms.
The Ángeles Verdes Tourist Services General Directorate provided 2,749 services over the long weekend.
8,754 tourists benefited, with 89% receiving mechanical assistance, 5% receiving tourist information, and 6% receiving emergency support. Finally, Rodríguez Zamora highlighted the importance of tourism to the national economy and reaffirmed that Mexico remains an attractive and safe travel destination.
