In Yucatán, for the moment it is only being applied to senior citizens in the municipality of Yobaín.

As he does every morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador held his press conference, this time from Guadalajara, Jalisco, where he was accompanied by his security cabinet and Governor Enrique Alfaro.

During the participation of the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, he informed that the vaccination policy against COVID-19 is changing, with emphasis on boosters for the elderly.

He also stated that the additional dose can be mixed with other vaccines or with the one used in their vaccination schedule.

All the people vaccinated before June are the ones who will begin to be vaccinated, confirmed Lopez-Gatell.

He clarified that regardless of the vaccines they received, the additional dose will be the AstraZeneca one.

The covid booster vaccine will only be applied to adults 60 years of age or older and starts today in Chiapas, Mexico City, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, and Yucatán.

The official said that the priority is to provide vaccination coverage to those who do not have any vaccination and to complete the scheme for those who already have a dose.

The Undersecretary of Health indicated that each state will be in charge of announcing the locations for the booster vaccination.

In the case of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, delegate of the federal government’s social programs in the state, indicated that for the moment, the booster vaccine will be applied to senior citizens only in the municipality of Yobaín.

The Yucatán Secretary of Health, Mauricio Sauri Vivas, led the application of this third dose in the aforementioned municipality, a process that began one day ago.

During the rest of this week, other municipalities will be attended besides Yobaín, and next Monday, December 13, the process will begin in 35 more municipalities, which will be announced in the coming days.
