Cold front number 24 will arrive on the Peninsula on Wednesday the 26th, although without much force, but it will be strengthened by an air mass coming from the United States that will push it towards the Caribbean.

(MERIDA, YUC.- METEORED), January 25, 2022.- This coming weekend we will feel the effects of the possible last cold front that affects the Yucatan Peninsula, with low temperatures that we will miss in the following months, since it could be an imposing period of heat, as is currently happening in the southern hemisphere, according to meteorologist Juan Vázquez Montalvo.

The thermometers will begin to drop from this Wednesday the 26th, but from Saturday the 29th the coldest atmosphere could be felt.

Therefore, it will affect Yucatan throughout the weekend, mainly from Saturday, with temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius in different sectors of the state such as the henequen zone, the southern cone or the cenotes zone. In Mérida, the thermometers at dawn could mark between 11 and 13 degrees.

Vázquez Montalvo recalled that cold front 24 is about to arrive, when on average around 51 were forecast throughout the Republic and half should reach Yucatan.

“Four were scheduled for January and now the fourth will come. In November we should have had two or three and there were six, in December we announced between three and four and there was only one cold front”, he declared.

The specialist highlighted that the programming of nortes in the country covers from September 20 to May 31, but in the case of the Yucatan Peninsula the most intense time is from December 15 to February 15.
