The Support Program for Cancer Patients of the Dr. Agustín O’Horán General Hospital, promoted by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, represents a light of hope that brings relief in the face of the complicated moments that young Camila Jaqueline Cetina Suaste and her family are experiencing after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
(Merida.gob.mx).- During a work tour to Sotuta, the Governor visited the 6-year-old patient in her house. Camila was diagnosed with this disease two months ago which has changed her and her parents’ lives.
The objective of the Support Program for Cancer Patients of the Dr. Agustín O’Horán General Hospital is to help 794 people in this condition and their families, to cover the expenses related to their treatments.
As part of the work agenda in Sotuta, Vila Dosal led the delivery of certificates of social housing actions to help people who need it most have decent spaces, fertilizer, bee boxes, and queen bee specimens, as well as support for Genetic Improvement and habanero chili and achiote plants.
Similarly, together with the mayor of this municipality, Gerardo Jacobo Cuxim Alfaro, the Governor inaugurated the Municipal Institute for Women and the Violeta Regional Center, while supervising the operation of the cultural space and the module of the Medical program 24 /7 in the town.
During his visit to little Camila Jaqueline, Vila Dosal personally gave her and her mother, Teresa Suaste Rojas, the 2,000 pesos cooperation fee that will be awarded bi-monthly, as well as food support, which will be distributed each month to those who are cared for cancer in that hospital, as part of the program.
In this regard, the mother of the beneficiary thanked the Governor for the support of this program, she stated that these actions make them feel that they are not alone in this difficult situation.
“We did not expect the Governor to come to our house, having him here makes me feel very safe and proud at the same time, it means that he is looking after my family and it is a beautiful feeling, in these difficult times of my daughter’s illness,” Mrs. Suaste said.
“This is a great help that they give us because we have to go to Mérida every 15 days for Camila’s treatment and consultations and sometimes we don’t have money for transportation. In addition, the products that they send us are very useful for me to cook for my family every day”, she pointed out.
Accompanied by the head of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF), María Teresa Boehm Calero, Vila Dosal spoke with little Camila, whom he referred to as a very brave and strong girl. Also, Camila received a doll of her favorite character from the children’s movie Frozen, as well as a backpack and a school bag for her next return to school.
In this context, it was recalled that the support program for patients with cancer at the Dr. Agustín O’Horán General Hospital consists of delivering a card, in which they will be deposited 2,000 pesos every two months, and DIF personnel sends a food package to their doorstep every month. Likewise, Governor Mauricio Vila gave the patient a laptop to continue studying online for the next course, and art supplies, which she will use in her free time and during the summer vacations.
It should be remembered that this program will benefit 794 cancer patients who attend this hospital, with which Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal fulfills one of the commitments that he announced last January, during his Third Activity Report.
