Man jumps off a bridge on Merida’s Periférico

A man died in the hospital “Agustín O’Horán” from the injuries he suffered when he jumped off a bridge on the periferico of Mérida on the morning of Friday, January 6.

According to the report, the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) took knowledge of a person who jumped from the bridge located at kilometer 3 of the aforementioned road, at the junction with the federal highway to Campeche.

The person was immediately transferred to the O’Horán hospital on board an SSP ambulance; however, he was reported dead hours after being admitted.

The subject was wearing Converse tennis shoes, dark pants, and a black t-shirt with orange lines on the front. At the time his death was reported, the man’s identity was still unknown.

There has been an alarming increase in the number of people who have taken their own lives. In the first eight days of this year, 7 suicides have been registered in Yucatan, 5 of which took place in Merida.
