San Francisco, California, March 3, 2023.- During the working tour to internationalize the municipality’s commercial relations, Mayor Renan Barrera Concha presented to the City of San Francisco the economic vocation of the city, the existing infrastructure as a trigger for new investments, the projects of local entrepreneurs, as well as explored possible joint projects that allow both cities to become strategic allies.
In the work meeting held on this fifth day of activities in California, United States, the Mayor of Merida and the Mayoress of San Francisco, London Breed, discussed strategies to establish commercial ties with North American companies.
Barrera Concha assured that the objective of these meetings is to develop strategies that will have a direct impact on the Yucatecan economy, which will provide more jobs, more investment and greater development opportunities for families, young people and grow together towards a more prosperous municipality.
“On the fifth day of work we have established several alliances with local authorities, entrepreneurs from different economic sectors, although we had a closer approach with technology developers, mobile applications and digital platforms to find new ways to empower our entrepreneurs and companies to the international market,” he said.
The work program also included a meeting with the Latino American Caucus of the California Association of Counties and Remedios Gómez Arnau, Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles to work together on possible commercial alliances and how they could be materialized.
He explained that links were established with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the California Chamber of Commerce in order to explore commercial exchanges and the supply of products from Merida and Yucatan for consumption by the Latino communities in the state of California.
During the visit to the companies that design digital platforms, Barrera Concha toured the Uber Technologies facilities to learn about innovation processes, the opportunities that a company has when developing applications that serve users, among others.
He recalled that in order to achieve the objective of finding strategic allies, the Yucatecan delegation in California is made up of Beatriz Gómory Correa, president of the Mexican Confederation of Employers (COPARMEX) Yucatán; Jorge Charruf Cáceres, president of the Yucatán Business Coordinating Council (CCE); Levy Abraham Macari, president of the National Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Services (CANACOSERVITUR) Yucatán; Abelardo Caceres Add, president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) Yucatán; and the director of Economic Development and Tourism, José Luis Martínez Semerena.
Finally, he said that this trip allows the Municipality to explore new alternatives to attract more investment, procure more jobs, generate greater mobility for the economic chains and generate more welfare for the families of Merida.
