During President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning press conference, it was informed that the government of Italy will deliver the cultural heritage recovered in Mexico to the authorities.
According to the Secretary of Culture, Alejandra Fraustro, in addition to Italy, Germany sent 40 pieces recovered in Mexico, while a city in France, whose name was not disclosed, delivered arrows as part of a campaign called ‘My heritage is not for sale‘.
For his part, the head of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), Diego Prieto, assured that ‘it hurts a lot’ the ‘archaeological plundering’ that was made to the country, for that reason he called to avoid the robbery and illicit traffic of Mexican archaeology.
We are very hurt by the Mexican archaeological plundering, said the director of INAH.
In ‘la mañanera‘, Prieto also highlighted the repatriation of cultural heritage, which was recovered with the help of Italian and German authorities; he said that these samples will be exhibited in the Templo Mayor.
He also thanked Italy and Germany for the delivery of the recovered heritage and its exhibition in the aforementioned facilities.
