Renán Barrera reports that as of the end of the first quarter of the year, 284,095 transactions have been recorded in compliance with this tax obligation.

Mérida, Yucatán, April 6th, 2023.- Thanks to the responsibility of the citizens and the fact that we have led a transparent and efficient administration in the management of public resources, Mérida maintains its quality of life and good public services, emphasized Mayor Renán Barrera Concha.

The Mayor indicated that the public’s confidence in the correct application of the resources collected through the payment of property taxes is most evident in the first three months of the year, when thousands of people take advantage of the discounts to comply with their civic responsibility.
He explained that the income collected through this tax allows the City Council to apply programs to attend to the most vulnerable population, construction and improvement of roads, attention to public spaces, improvement of the lighting system, tools for better security, among other actions that position Merida as one of the best cities in Mexico and the world.

“Year after year the citizens trust us and more and more people pay their property tax in the first quarter, and that is because they feel safe living in Merida and because they are witnesses that we maintain a functional, efficient Municipality, recognized for the quality of its public services,” he said.
In this sense, Barrera Concha informed that as of March of this year, there are 284,095 operations (properties) that have paid their property tax.
“This year we have a variation of operations of 4.99% (13,506 properties) with respect to the closing of that same date in 2022, and the collection had a variation of 27.36% with respect to the closing of that same date in 2022”, he explained.
The Municipal President indicated that with 45.8% of operations through Internet, the payments by this means, with respect to 2022, present a variation of 13.4% of operations (130,089 properties paid online).

As for the collection by this same digital means, a variation in collection of 36.7% is presented, which represents 49.8% of the total income, he added.
“Citizens are taking advantage of digital tools to make the payment of property tax, for that reason in the City Council, through the Directorate of Information Technology, strengthened this online service so that citizens can use this digital platform without any problem from their computer or cell phone,” he said.
Finally, this year a 30% discount was offered in January, while in February and March it was 15% and 8% respectively. For those citizens who have not yet paid their property tax, they can consult all collection sites and schedules at www.merida.gob.mx/predial.
