GARDENA, California – The iconic white three-piece suit John Travolta wore to dance in the movie Saturday Night Fever, which marked the disco era, will be auctioned in California.

Julien’s Auctions will hold April 22-23 in the luxurious Los Angeles location of Beverly Hills.
“This is the disco era,” said Martin Nolan, CEO of Julien’s Auctions pointing to the wide-booted, high-waisted ensemble and what it represents.
When people talk about the disco era, they think of Saturday Night Fever, they think of the Bee Gees, and they think of John Travolta,” he explained.
The costume is estimated to be worth between $100,000 and $200,000, but Nolan believes it will sell for much more.
The Hollywood: Classic and Contemporary exhibition will auction some 1,400 objects and memorabilia that represent a century of cinema.
Up for auction will be items such as Charlie Chaplin’s bamboo cane, Mattel’s hoverboard from Back to the Future III, the original headdress of actress Theda Bara who starred in the 1917 version of Cleopatra, as well as several rods from the Harry Potter film series.
Also, costume pieces from blockbuster franchises such as John Wick, Batman, Thor, Creed, Iron Man and Star Wars will be auctioned off.
These items represent incredible memories, it’s nostalgia,” said Nolan.
We went to the movies to be entertained. We didn’t get on planes to travel like we do today, nor did we have streaming or iPhones. We saved up to go to the movies every week and watched every detail,” he added.
These objects are also considered an investment because they will continue to gain value in the future,” he said.
Nolan estimates that the auction could raise about $2 million. “But that’s a pretty conservative figure,” he admitted.
