A real tragedy occurred this Thursday morning in downtown Merida, after a motorcyclist ran over a woman and killed her.
The incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. on Calle 63 and 56 in downtown Merida, where the lifeless body of a woman of approximately 55 years of age was left lying.
According to what could be ascertained, a motorcyclist from a well-known soft drink company was riding eastbound on 63rd street and as he passed 56th street, the woman allegedly crossed the street untimely.
The motorcyclist was unable to stop and ran over the woman, who fell to the pavement and lost her life, while the driver of the two-wheeler was injured.
Merida Municipal Police officers were on the scene and mounted an operation, keeping Calle 63 closed, as well as blocking the traffic on Calle 60 and Calle 58 in downtown Merida to avoid traffic congestion.
Agents from the State Investigation Police (PEI) were also present and began the corresponding investigations.
