LEÓN, Mexico-. The Mexican Baseball League returned last Thursday night with the first game of the 2023 season, in which the champion Leones de Yucatán came away with a victory over Bravos de León.
In a game that went into extra innings, the Leones de Yucatán prevailed as visitors against the Bravos de León to win 8-4, thanks to a four-run rally in the tenth inning.
The Bravos de León were the first to attack with two runs in the early part of the game, but the Melenuda offense managed to even the scoreboard on two occasions, until they managed to score the four runs that gave them the lead.
For the reigning champions, Jose Martinez and Luis Juarez homered at Domingo Santana Park to help their team to a win in a South Zone game. Jorge Rondon was the winning pitcher.
When will the inaugural series between Leones de Yucatán and Bravos de León resume?
Leones de Yucatán and Bravos de León will play their other two games of the inaugural series this Friday and Saturday, while on Sunday both teams will rest.
