Starting this Wednesday, May 17th, Mérida will have a bike rental service similar to the one available on some neighborhoods and main avenues in Mexico City.
Through the service called ‘En Bici,’ residents of Mérida will be able to use the bike rental service, with several terminals located in the downtown area and other points of the city.
A total of 300 bicycles will be distributed across 53 stations located in various sites in Mérida for people to use, such as:
- San Juan Park
- Mérida Centennial
- Santiago Park
- Hidalgo Park
- Plaza Grande
- Mejorada Park
- Eulogio Rosado Park
- ADO Tame Mérida
- Former Merida Bank
- Plaza de la Tecnología
- San Cristóbal Park
- Paseo de Montejo
- San Benito Market
- UTM
- Kukulcán Park
- Prepa Uno UADY
- CTM
With the implementation of ‘En Bici’ in Mérida, it has been announced that it will be operated through an application that can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the App Store.
For the first three months, rides will be free, as starting from August, bike rentals will be charged per hour.
To use the service, users will need to scan the QR code, which will unlock the lock through the application for Yucatecans to use. The app will provide easy-to-understand instructions for the journey, and it will be mandatory to return the bike to a station to complete the trip.
The lock is manually closed, indicating that the vehicle has been returned and its use has ended, and it can be deposited at any of the 53 stations in Mérida.
