More than 40 companies joined a project that seeks to provide opportunities for young people who have overcome their problems with addictions or who have already served a criminal sentence, through the First Entrepreneurship and Employment Fair.
The Guerreros de la Luz Association, the Civil Association “Interculturality, Health and Rights” (Insade), through the Sofia Foundation and the Secretary of Labor of the state, organized this event through which the labor inclusion of this vulnerable sector of society is sought.
The event was held at the Gran Museo el Mundo Maya in Merida, and 42 companies participated, 17 more than the ones that had been contemplated, informed Amaranda Becerra Puerto, local partner of INSADE Yucatan and president of the Sofia Association.
They ask to be more flexible with requirements
“We asked the participating companies to be more flexible with their hiring requirements, such as presenting jobs for basic schooling, or not asking for a non-criminal record,” said Becerra Puerto.
At the same venue, prior to the inauguration of the fair, 110 young people received their certificates as graduates of the job training course given by “Asociación Sofía”, who also received image consulting, job interview presentation and resume writing, among other skills.
“We had 80 kids at the beginning and the number went up to 110 who were also given the opportunity to be trained”, he commented.
