The Government of the State of Yucatán is set to provide support for the fourth consecutive year through the “Women with Secure Housing” program, led by the Ministry of Women. The ministry announced that the 2023 call for applications is now open as part of strategic and comprehensive actions to eradicate gender-based violence in the region.
According to the information released by this department, interested individuals will have the opportunity to register on the platforms until November 30th. Women who qualify for the program will receive a sum of 7,500 pesos for rental housing, in addition to specialized psychological and legal support.
This program is intended for women in situations of extreme violence, who will have access to financial resources for renting a home that provides them and their families with security, peace, and a life free from violence.
The head of the Ministry of Women, María Cristina Castillo Espinosa, emphasized that Yucatán is the only state in the entire country where this program is implemented, offering comprehensive support to women, enabling them to break free from the cycle of violence they are trapped in.
Currently, the program supports 217 women in situations of extreme violence from 26 municipalities. However, this year, the government intends to expand the admission of applications from women who meet the program’s requirements in order to ensure their access to a violence-free life.
“I invite women to approach their nearest Violet Regional Center and their municipal women’s institutes to consult the call for applications. It is also available on our website. Know that the Ministry of Women is an allied institution, that you are not alone, and we will provide you with all the support you require,” added Castillo Espinosa.
