The federal government declared of use another 242,627 square meters corresponding to 51 privately owned properties for the passage of the Mayan Train, in a declaration published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), by the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU).
The properties are located in the municipalities of Sudzal, Kantunil, Tinum, Uayma, Valladolid, Chemax, in Yucatán; as well as in Lázaro Cárdenas and Puerto Morelos, in Quintana Roo.
The Sedatu declaration establishes that “the interested parties will have a term of fifteen business days as from the notification or the second publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation of the present Declaration to state before the Legal Affairs Unit of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, what is in their right and interest and to submit the evidence they deem pertinent”.
The first decree in favor of the Mayan Train was issued on January 17, 2022 when the Federal Executive, through the Secretariat of Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), declared the expropriation of 2 million 410 thousand 107 square meters of private property, some 241 hectares, located in the municipalities of Benito Juarez, Solidaridad and Puerto Morelos for the construction of section 5 north, in Quintana Roo.
Sources inside the state government recalled that the last decree was just last May 15, with the occupation of an area of 8,118 square meters of two privately owned properties, located in the Municipality of Othón P. Blanco, in Quintana Roo.
This is the third decree in less than 10 days published by the federal government to expropriate land and roads necessary for the priority projects of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador: on May 18, the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) expropriated sections of roads granted to Ferrosur for the Inter-Oceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT).
On May 22, land was expropriated for the expansion of the Suburban Train, which will connect Lechería with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).
