A true tragedy occurred this Saturday on the Mérida-Cancún road when a man died in a fiery accident inside a truck.
According to the information obtained, the tragic accident happened on the Yodznot-Pisté stretch of the Mérida-Cancún road when the driver of a flatbed tractor-trailer lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. The driver became trapped inside the cabin, which unfortunately caught fire.
Regrettably, the man could not be rescued from the cabin in time and ended up being burned inside his vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene called for emergency assistance, and personnel from the Secretariat of Public Safety (SSP) and firefighters arrived, managing to extinguish the flames.
The authorities closed the road to traffic as the flatbed carrying the tractor-trailer was obstructing the way.
It is worth mentioning that road accidents are becoming more common in Yucatán, and drivers are urged to exercise caution, respect speed limits, and avoid driving while fatigued.
