A total of 17 beaches on the Campeche coast are safe for swimming and do not represent any health risk on these summer vacations. The Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COPRISCAM) verified the water quality to protect visitors from diarrheal diseases or skin and eyes infections.
These beaches are: In Campeche, Playa Bonita, San Lorenzo and Sombrerón; in Calkiní, Isla Arena; in Ciudad del Carmen, Manigua, Playa Norte I, Playa Norte II, Bahamitas, Puerto Real, Isla Aguada, Viaducto and Zacatal; in Champotón, Boca del Río, Punta Xen and Playa Palmeras; and in Seybaplaya, Payucán and Villa Madero.
The head of COPRISCAM, Juan Abad de Jesús, reported that through the Contact Water program, beaches are inspected before vacation periods to protect the health of visitors. In total, six monitoring tests were carried out with 102 samples analyzed by the State Public Health Laboratory, resulting in suitable for recreational use, given the permissible limits of contamination measured in enterococci, which are the most resistant to seawater.
He stated that sanitary surveillance is also intensified in food and beverage establishments in recreational sites to avoid risks to the health of the population. In the event of any anomaly he invited to report to number 981 816 5024, extension 101, for COPRISCAM inspectors to go to the place and verify the hygiene measures.
