Thanks to its strategic location, Mérida is one of the favorite cities to visit in all of Mexico, since from the Yucatan state capital tourists can visit different attractions in less than two hours, such as Magic Towns, archaeological sites and beaches.
Some of the attractions that make Mérida one of the favorite tourist destinations in Yucatán and Mexico, is without a doubt its wonderful history since it was founded in 1542 and its beautiful architecture, vibrant nightlife, delicious gastronomy and rich culture.
In all seasons of the year, in Mérida and the rest of the state, temperatures tend to fluctuate between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius, especially during the summer, since the thermal sensations can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius.
When is the best time to visit Merida?
The best and most recommended season to visit the Yucatecan capital is when the temperatures are not so high, since there are many tourists who are not used to being such an extreme weather, and heat strokes among visitors.
Around December, is when the temperatures are perfect for walking and getting to know the most interesting places in Mérida, as the heat is not so intense, and Mérida does not get as cold as other cities in Mexico.
Between November and March is probably the best time of the year to visit Yucatán.
And December, January, and February, is the time when the famous ‘Heladez’ can be felt in Mérida and the rest of the state when temperatures fall below 20 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, if your thing is to have a better time on the beaches and cenotes, the months of May and June are the hottest, but if you decide to visit our beloved Peninsula during the summer, get ready for an unbearable heat!
