Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, will purchase a property on an exclusive artificial island in Miami known as the “billionaires’ bunker,” where he will be neighbors with a growing list of celebrities including Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner.
Bezos, 59, will pay $68 million for the three-bedroom oceanfront house, situated on a 2.8-acre (1.1-hectare) property, according to Fortune magazine and Bloomberg. The Amazon founder stepped down as CEO of the company in 2021 to dedicate more time to philanthropy and other projects.
MTM Star International is listed in Miami-Dade property records as the previous owner of the house. The county’s website does not list Bezos as the owner but indicates that the property was sold in June.
Guillermo Olmedillo, administrator of Indian Creek Village, told The Associated Press that he had no information about the purchase. The village has a country club and its own police force.
County records show that the property was previously sold for $1.4 million in 1982. The house is 9,300 square feet (864 square meters) in size and features a swimming pool.
