Mexico’s president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said this Tuesday that he will meet with the US president, Joe Biden, in November in San Francisco as part of a meeting between countries of the Pacific and Asia, and that he will insist on an economic strengthening plan for the America continent.
The Mexican president commented that he will propose to Biden to implement a development plan that includes all the countries of North America, Latin America and the Caribbean with accessible financing and cheap credits to address the migratory phenomenon and confront violence.
“I am also proposing that a plan for all the American continent, a development plan, be put into practice, something similar to what the Alliance for Progress was with President (John F.) Kennedy,” he said during his morning conference.
The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) will be held from November 14 to 17 in San Francisco and in that framework the bilateral meeting between the leaders of the United States and Mexico will be held.
López Obrador emphasized that in this plan all countries must participate and complement each other to make America the strongest and most important region in the world, as happened with the European Union.
He also indicated that it has been shown that growth with well-being is the best, and that the proposal includes Cuba.
The last meeting between Biden and López Obrador occurred last January, when Mexico hosted the North American Leaders Summit in which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also participated.
