Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal places Yucatan in the eyes of the world by participating in Biva Day 2023, in the panel discussion “Economic, business and political perspectives of Mexico” in New York, where he presented the state as a territory with great competitive advantages to attract more investment and take advantage of the arrival of new companies that generate more and well paid jobs for the benefit of Yucatecans.
In his work agenda in New York, this day, Vila Dosal participated in Biva Day 2023, a meeting of industrial leaders and Mexican companies with the opportunity to meet with U.S. investors, where he showed the benefits and advantages of investing in Yucatan; as well as held a working meeting with the President of the Council of the Americas, Susan Segal, to continue promoting the state.

From Rockefeller Center, in New York, at the panel discussion “Economic, Business and Political Perspectives of Mexico”, the Governor explained what is happening in Yucatan that is causing it to be living a historic moment, since in 2021 it registered the highest economic growth, it also reached the maximum number of jobs generated; while, in 2022 it has been the year with the highest direct foreign investment, the highest number of tourist arrivals and the safest year in history.

Before the director of Bank of America in Mexico, Emilio Romano; the Executive Vice President of CEMEX, Mauricio Doehner, and the renowned businessman Eugenio Baeza, Vila Dosal showed that Yucatan is becoming a leading state in Nearshoring by being the third state in the country with the highest investment attraction of foreign companies to Mexico, attracting 8% of the total.

In order for Yucatan to exploit this commercial strategy, said the Governor, we are promoting projects that are detonating the development of the state with the expansion of the International Airport of Merida, the expansion of the Port of Progreso, with which larger commercial ships and cruise ships will arrive, the generation of sustainable energy with the construction of two combined cycle plants in Merida and Valladolid, the arrival of more natural gas and the installation of 3 wind farms and 2 solar farms.

“We also focus on the preparation of our young people, for example, with the State English Agenda to promote the mastery of this language with bilingual environments from preschool to university; The International Mobility Program, preparing them to practice the language in prestigious universities in Canada and the United States, the Women in ICT program, with which all those who want to study any engineering career related to Information Technology in public universities of the State Government, will receive a 100% scholarship for registration and tuition during their entire career,” said Vila Dosal before governments, corporations and investment companies from around the world.
Likewise, Vila Dosal continued, we already have new Industry 4.0 and 5. 0 in the Polytechnic University of Yucatan (UPY) and Metropolitan Technological University (UTM), so that young people can be trained in the field of aerospace, supply chain and storage; as well as we were the first to start careers in Cybersecurity in the Southeast, in addition to the creation of 2 new laboratories in collaboration with the UPY and UTM with exclusive design for simulation of attack and defense in real time, hacking tests and software vulnerability.
Also, the pilot program of robotics classes for basic education began, which is the first of its kind in Latin America. The project includes 242 schools in 10 municipalities in the state in its first stage, bringing technological knowledge to the preparation of Yucatecan students from an early age.

During his speech at the event held in New York, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal indicated that, as a result of the security, transparency and legal certainty conditions in the state, we are receiving important investments for a package of more than 310 projects from internationally recognized companies such as Airbus, Mercado Libre, Amazon, Walmart, Leoni, Accenture, Preh, among others.
Continuing with his work agenda in New York, Vila Dosal met with the President of the Council of the Americas, Susan Segal, where he presented the competitive advantages that Yucatan has and how they are being used in the Nearshoring strategy to boost the state’s economy, generating more and better paid jobs for Yucatecans.
