In order to give children and adolescents who have suffered from violence or in vulnerable situations an opportunity to develop and improve their environment, as well as to know their rights, the “Youth Startups For Peace” call was opened, in which more than 20 university students from Yucatan and Quintana Roo will participate.
The Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates presented the call “Youth Startups for Peace”, in conjunction with the Jornada de Derechos Humanos A.C., and in alliance with the Municipality of Merida and the Municipality of Benito Juarez (Cancùn), Quintana Roo.
The president of Jornada de Derechos Humanos, José Pablo Quiñones, highlighted that this is a unique initiative of its kind worldwide, which seeks to empower the universities of the aforementioned cities to develop their humanitarian and entrepreneurial side.
“Through the participation and involvement of young university students in proposals that seek to develop proposals for peace, which impact through any sport or physical activity, for the benefit of children who have suffered violence or who are in street situations,” he said.
For her part, the president of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, Ekaterina Zagladina, mentioned that for the organization she presides it is a priority to promote leadership opportunities for peace, so that young people can promote global initiatives and local social issues.
“The call will be open until November 30 of this year and the registration of projects is through the website of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. Students from more than 20 universities are expected to participate and the prize will be 10 thousand dollars for the implementation of their project”, he concluded.
